In this program, prepared especially for the Festival of Sacred Arts in Prague, 2010, Jill brings more ceremonial and para-liturgical Jewish music to a wider audience. There are liturgical poems sung in synagogues for the High Holy Days, niggunim played on the harp to uplift the soul, verses from the ancient texts of the Bible, songs of joy and of repentance, and folk tunes from a variety of Jewish communities. The patina of age of many of the songs she sings here (in Hebrew, Aramaic, Yiddish and Ladino) harmonises with the freshness of the melodies.
