This program presents (mainly little-known) gems of the 7th-17th centuries. Singing in many different languages and dialects, Jill takes the audience on a musical and spiritual journey from Ireland to Armenia, from North Africa to Sweden, accompanying herself on troubadour harp and light percussion instruments. Some are court songs, some are based on traditional melodies; others are liturgical and para-liturgical songs from different church traditions. Jill sings each one in its original language, from 9th-century Irish Gaelic to 11th-century Middle English and Hebrew, 13th-century Armenian and 17th-century Hungarian. You will definitely need to sit down for the trip.
