This program — prepared especially for the Yehiam Renaissance Festival (Israel) in 2010 — is a journey through Italy spanning several centuries: from 13th-century laude through traditional songs from different regions — both of the general population and of the Jewish communities — and up to Jill’s setting of a late-20th-century poem by an Italian-born poet. Jill demonstrates the rich variety of the music of what is now considered one country, but which was separate principalities and kingdoms for so many centuries, with a deep literary and musical influence on the rest of Europe. Here, she sings in Italian (medieval, Renaissance, and regional), Latin, Hebrew and Ladino, accompanying herself on troubadour harp, guitar and percussion.
